What is it?
Magnesium is an essential mineral involved in over 300 biochemical processes in the body, including muscle relaxation, nerve function, and sleep regulation. Magnesium glycinate is the form bound to glycine ā an amino acid with its own calming properties ā making it the most effective and gentle form for sleep support.
How does it work?
Magnesium activates the parasympathetic nervous system (your "rest and digest" mode), reduces cortisol levels, and regulates GABA receptors ā the same receptors targeted by sleep medications, but through a natural pathway. It also directly relaxes muscle fibres, reducing the residual tension that keeps athletes awake after hard sessions.
What does the science say?
A double-blind clinical trial published in the Journal of Research in Medical Sciences found that magnesium supplementation significantly improved sleep quality, sleep duration, and early morning cortisol levels in adults. In athletes specifically, magnesium deficiency is extremely common due to losses through sweat ā making supplementation particularly valuable.
Why glycinate?
We chose magnesium glycinate over cheaper forms like magnesium oxide because glycinate has a significantly higher absorption rate and does not cause the digestive discomfort associated with other forms.
